Routine maintenance for your gas range.
We recommend cleaning the oven exterior and interior when it becomes unsightly. Wipe away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and difficult to remove. Be sure to wipe away pools of oil and excessive soil/debris in the oven before activating the oven’s self-cleaning feature. Not doing so can cause smoke and possibly a fire.

Burner flame goes out unexpectedly.
Make sure there is no draft in the room.
Liquid may have boiled over onto the cooking surface and burner caps. Use a soft cloth to wipe away any spills.
The burner cap may have been moved. Check and reposition the burner cap into its proper position.
The burner ports may be wet or clogged with food particles. Make sure the burner port is dry. Clear clogged burner ports with a wire or straightened paper clip.
If your gas cooktop was converted to LP gas, please check the regulator or low flame adjustment to ensure they are correct.
Igniters spark even though knobs are in the off position.
When an electrical power connection has been activated at the first power up or reconnected after an outage, the igniters may spark once or twice even though all burner knobs are in the off position.
This may be caused by the presence of water due to cleaning the cooking surface with excess water or water boiling over onto the cooking surface and entering the appliance. This problem will cure itself once the cooking surface dries out. If the problem persists after several days, please schedule a service visit.
The igniter box may have failed. Please schedule a service visit.
Ignition spark operates continuously.
The knobs may be in the “Lighting/Spark” position. Turn the knobs to the “Off” position.
Make sure there is no draft in the room. Select models have a re-ignition function, which is part of the flame recognition feature. The re-ignition function will attempt to reignite a flame which has been blown out or disturbed.
This may be caused by the presence of water due to cleaning the cooking surface with excess water or water boiling over onto the cooking surface and entering the appliance. This problem will cure itself once the cooking surface dries out. If the problem persists after several days, please schedule a service visit.
If you have tried all of the above and the problem continues, you will need an authorized service technician to dismantle the appliance and repair it. You should never attempt to dismantle a gas appliance unless you are officially qualified to do so. Please call a professional installer or schedule a service visit.
It is hard to ignite the gas rings – burners are not igniting or there is a constant clicking sound.
The burner cap that covers the igniter may have become slightly displaced, thus making it difficult to ignite the gas rings. Check that all burner caps are properly placed.
The igniter ports may be dirty. Carefully wipe the igniter with a cotton swab dampened with water after the igniter has cooled down. Gently scrape soil off with a toothpick. Avoid exposing the igniters to excessive water as a damp igniter may not light up. Remove any lint that may remain after cleaning.
Ignition will be quicker if a cooking pan is in place on the grate. Ignite the gas at full and once alight, turn down to around 50%. It should lock on within 6 seconds.
The main gas supply may not be turned on. Check to ensure that it is turned on.
Does the burner click when the burner knob is in the “on” position? If yes, you may have a wiring issue at the outlet that the appliance is connected to. Turn off the main gas supply and contact a qualified electrician to fix this.
Does the burner click when the burner knob is in the “off” position? If yes, check for the following:
- Burner caps are properly placed and the igniter is not wet or dirty.
- Check to see if the regulator supplied with the unit is installed properly. The arrow on the regulator should be pointing to the appliance. Please call a professional installer or schedule a service visit if the regulator has not been installed properly.
Burner keeps making a clicking sound.
The burner caps may have been moved. Make sure the burner caps are properly positioned.
The burner ports may be wet or clogged with food particles. Make sure the burner port is dry. Clear clogged burner ports with a wire or straightened paper clip.
Igniters may be damp. Dry the igniters with a dry cotton swab. Remove any lint that remains after drying.
The gas shut-off valve may be off. Check to make sure it is on and that the gas supply to the building is not off.
Flames are too high or are uneven.
The burner caps may not be installed properly or may have been moved. Make sure the burner caps are properly positioned.
The regulator supplied with the unit may not be installed. Please ask your professional installer to install it or
schedule a service visit.
A gas smell is coming from my cooktop.
The burner knobs may not be completely turned off. Turn the knobs to the “off” position. If the smell does not go away after doing this, turn the main gas supply off and schedule a service visit.
Does the smell disappear when the burner is lit? It is normal to smell gas for up to four seconds after igniting the burner. The smell will go away after the burner is lit. If the smell does not go away when the burner is lit, turn the main gas supply off and schedule a service visit.
How to self-clean an oven.
All models have slightly different instructions. Please refer to your Use & Care Guide to learn how to self-clean your oven.
Can I use oven cleaner in my self-cleaning oven?
No, we do not recommend using chemical cleaners in self-cleaning ovens. The porcelain surface is smooth and chemical cleaners may cause surface damage.
Oven is not self-cleaning properly.
Allow the oven to cool before running the self-clean feature. Always wipe away loose soils/debris or heavy spills before running self-clean. Set the oven for the maximum self-clean time if the oven is badly soiled.
Should I leave the oven door open while broiling?
No, this is not necessary. All modern ovens require that the oven door be closed while broiling. This reduces the amount of heat in the kitchen.
Oven light doesn’t turn off.
Check for any obstructions in and around the oven door.
Check to see if the hinge is bent.
Oven light is not working properly.
Replace or reinsert the light bulb if loose or defective. Use gloves or a small wash cloth when handling the light bulb because touching it with your fingers may deposit oils on it and thus cause it to burn out prematurely.
The bulb may have burned out. Buy a replacement bulb.

Do I need to install the anti-tip bracket?
Yes, absolutely. You may be held legally responsible if the anti-tip bracket is not installed and any damage or injury occurs due to it not being installed.
Warm air or steam is coming out of the oven vent.
This is normal. Do not block the vent.
