            • Routine maintenance for your dual-fuel range.

We recommend cleaning the oven exterior and interior when it becomes unsightly. Wipe away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and difficult to remove. Be sure to wipe away pools of oil and excessive soil/debris in the oven before activating the oven’s self-cleaning feature. Not doing so can cause smoke and possibly a fire.

View our How-to-Videos to learn how to care for your gas cooktop and how to clean stainless steel.

Please also refer to the DUAL-FUEL RANGES – CLEANING & CARE SECTION for additional information.

              Burner flame goes out unexpectedly.

Make sure there is no draft in the room.

Igniters spark even though knobs are in the off position.

When an electrical power connection has been activated at the first power up or reconnected after an outage, the igniters may spark once or twice even though all burner knobs are in the off position.

              Ignition spark operates continuously.

The knobs may be in the “on” position. Turn them to the “off” position.

This may be caused by the presence of water due to over enthusiastic cleaning of the cooking surface or water boiling over onto the cooking surface and entering the appliance. This problem will cure itself once the cooking surface dries out.

If you have tried all of the above and the problem continues, you will need a Corgi registered engineer to dismantle the appliance and repair it. You should never attempt to dismantle a gas appliance unless you are officially qualified to do so.

It is hard to ignite the gas rings.

The burner cap that covers the igniter may have become slightly displaced, thus making it difficult to ignite the gas rings. Check that all burner caps are not dislodged and are properly placed.

Ignition will be quicker if a cooking pan is in place on the grate. Ignite with the gas at full and once alight turn down to around 50%, it should lock on within 6 seconds.

Burner keeps making a clicking sound.

The burner caps may have been moved. Make sure the burner caps are properly positioned.

The burner ports may be wet or clogged with food particles. Make sure the burner port is dry. Clear clogged burner ports with a wire or straightened paper clip.

Igniters may be damp. Dry the igniters with a dry cotton swab. Remove any lint that remains after drying.

The gas shut-off valve may be off. Check to make sure it is on and that the gas supply to the building is not off.

              How to self-clean an oven.

All models have slightly different instructions. Please refer to your Use & Care Guide to learn how to self-clean your oven.

Can I use oven cleaner in my self-cleaning oven?

No, we do not recommend using chemical cleaners in self-cleaning ovens. The porcelain surface is smooth and chemical cleaners may cause surface damage.

              Oven is not self-cleaning properly.

Allow the oven to cool before running the self-clean feature. Always wipe away loose soils/debris or heavy spills before running self-clean. Set the oven for the maximum self-clean time if the oven is badly soiled.

Should I leave the oven door open while broiling?

No, this is not necessary. All modern ovens require that the oven door be closed while broiling. This reduces the amount of heat in the kitchen.

              Oven light doesn’t turn off.

Check for any obstructions in and around the oven door.

Check to see if the hinge is bent.

Warm air or steam is coming out of the oven vent.

This is normal. Do not block the vent.

Oven light is not working properly.

Replace or reinsert the light bulb if loose or defective. Use gloves or a small wash cloth when handling the light bulb because touching it with your fingers may deposit oils on it and thus cause it to burn out prematurely.

The bulb may have burned out. Buy a replacement bulb.

View our How-to-Videos on the Bosch YouTube Channel to learn how to change a light bulb in your oven.

Do I need to install the anti-tip bracket?

Yes, absolutely. You may be held legally responsible if the anti-tip bracket is not installed and any damage or injury occurs due to it not being installed.

            • Cleaning & care instructions for your dual-fuel range’s exterior.

We recommend wiping away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and difficult to remove. View our How-to-Videos to learn how to care for your gas cooktop and how to clean stainless steel.

Warning: Do not use any cleaning agent while the surface is hot. The resulting fumes may be hazardous to your health and may result in death or injury.

To clean glass surfaces: Wash with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry or use glass cleaner.

To clean painted surfaces: Wash with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Do not use powder cleaning agents, steel wool pads, oven cleaners and other abrasive cleaning materials.

To clean stainless steel: Wipe with the grain when cleaning stainless steel. Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent or stainless steel cleaner with a soft cloth. Wipe dry to avoid water marks. Do not use cleaning materials that contain chlorine since it is corrosive to stainless steel. Warning: Some stainless steel cleaners are known to have negative effects on materials other than stainless steel. Make sure to apply stainless steel cleaner to stainless steel components only!

To clean burner bases: Remove all pots, pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Remove grates once they have cooled down. Grates are heavy so use care when handling them. Use a mild cleaning agent and hot water with a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. A stiff nylon tooth brush may be used to clean port openings. When cleaning, do not scratch or gouge the port openings and do not utilize a toothpick that may break off.

To clean the burner cap: Remove all pots, pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Remove grates once they have cooled down. Grates are heavy so use care when handling them. Use hot, sudsy water with a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Non-abrasive cleaners, and liquid cleaners may also be used. Dry the burner cap thoroughly after cleaning. Do not soak burner caps.

To clean control knobs: To remove knobs, simply lift them straight up. Use hot, sudsy water with a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Do not soak the knobs or use abrasive cleaners and scrubbers.

To clean grates: Remove all pots, pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Remove grates once they have cooled down. Grates are heavy so use care when handling them. Use a mild cleaner to clean the grates with a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Blisters and chips on grates are common due to their exposure to extreme temperatures and rapid temperature changes. Acidic and sugar-laden spills deteriorate the enamel, so remove these spills as soon as safely possible. Abrasive cleaners can mar the grates. Do not clean grates in a self-cleaning oven.

To clean igniters: Carefully wipe the igniter with a cotton swab dampened with water after the igniter has cooled down. Gently scrape soil off with a toothpick. Avoid exposing the igniters to excessive water as a damp igniter may not light up. Remove any lint that may remain after cleaning.

Cleaners to always avoid: Cleaners that contain ammonia or chlorine bleach, caustic cleaners (such as Easy Off®), abrasive cleaners, dishwashing agents, metal scouring pads, scrub sponges, soap-filled scouring pads, powdery cleaners, and flammable cleaners. These products may damage, scratch, and dull your cooktop.

Cleaning and care instructions for your dual-fuel range’s interior.

See the dual-fuel range’s Use & Care Guide for instructions on how to activate the oven’s self-cleaning process. Wipe off spills, pools of oil, and excessive debris before activating the self-cleaning process. Not doing so can cause smoke and possibly a fire. Do not clean oven parts or accessories in the self-cleaning oven. The light in the oven cannot be turned on during the self-cleaning process. The special heat-resistant enamel and the polished components in the oven can become discolored over time. This is normal and does not affect operation. Do not use scouring pads, abrasive cleaners and commercial oven cleaners (such as EasyOff®). These items may damage the oven. Remove all accessories, racks and broiling pans before activating the self-cleaning process.

To clean the flat rack: Wash with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Do not clean the rack in the self-cleaning oven. If flat racks are cleaned in the oven during the self-cleaning mode, they will lose their shiny finish and may not glide smoothly. If this happens wipe the rack edges with a small amount of vegetable oil, then wipe it off.

To clean telescopic racks: Wash with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Avoid getting cleansing powder or residue in the telescopic slides. Re-lubricate the telescopic slides as needed by using high-temperature food-grade lubricants. Do not clean the rack in the oven during self-cleaning mode.

To clean the broiling pan and grid: Wash with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. Do not clean the broiling pan and grid in the oven during self-cleaning mode.

To clean the fiberglass gasket: Do not clean the fiberglass gasket.

Slight odor when a range is turned on.

This is normal with new cooktops and will disappear after several uses.

Cooktop range will not turn on.

Range may not be plugged in. Check to see if it is plugged in.

Cooktop panel is locked. Press and hold “Panel Lock” until the indicator light turns off.

Check to see if you are experiencing a power failure.

Power may not be flowing to the socket. Check if electricity is present at the outlet in question by using another small object that runs on electricity (e.g. hairdryer). If electricity is not present, consult a qualified electrician.

The fuse may have blown or the circuit breaker may be tripped. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.

Cooktop seems like it is “ON” even though I have turned it off.

The HOT indicator light is on because the surface is still hot. This light is on for safety reasons.

To clean hard water spots: Minerals in some water can be transferred onto the cooktop surface and cause stains. Apply undiluted white vinegar with a soft, clean cloth. Then, recondition with glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.

The following items may be removed with a scraper while the cooktop is hot: dry sugar, sugar syrup, milk, tomato spills, melted plastic film, foil. First, remove any cooking pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Wearing an oven mitt, hold scraper at a 30° angle, being careful to not gouge or scratch the glass. Push the loosened soil off the heated area with the scraper. After the cooktop surface has cooled, remove the loosened soil and apply glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.

              • Burner caps are properly placed and the igniter is not wet or dirty.
              • Check to see if the regulator supplied with the unit is installed properly. The arrow on the regulator should be pointing to the appliance. Please call a professional installer or schedule a service visit if the regulator has not been installed properly.

Flames are too high or are uneven.

The burner caps may not be installed properly or may have been moved. Make sure the burner caps are properly positioned.

The regulator supplied with the unit may not be installed. Please ask your professional installer to install it or schedule a service visit.

A gas smell is coming from my cooktop.

The burner knobs may not be completely turned off. Turn the knobs to the “off” position. If the smell does not go away after doing this, turn the main gas supply off and schedule a service visit.

Does the smell disappear when the burner is lit? It is normal to smell gas for up to four seconds after igniting the burner. The smell will go away after the burner is lit. If the smell does not go away when the burner is lit, turn the main gas supply off and schedule a service visit.

Warm air or steam is coming out of the oven vent.

This is normal. Do not block the vent.

            • Cleaning & care instructions for your gas range’s exterior.

The gas range can be safely cleaned when it is cooled down by wiping with a soapy sponge, rinsing and then drying.

To clean stubborn messes: Remove all pots, pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Remove grates once they have cooled down. Grates are heavy so use care when handling them. Use a mild cleaning agent with a clean, soft cloth, rinse and then dry.

To clean glass surfaces: Wash with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry or use glass cleaner.

To clean porcelain surfaces: Immediately wipe up acid spills like fruit juice, milk and tomatoes with a dry cloth. Do not use a moistened sponge or cloth on hot porcelain. When the oven is cool, clean it with hot, soapy water and a soft cloth, rinse and then dry. It is normal for porcelain to show fine lines with age due to exposure to heat and food.

Avoid exposing the igniters to excessive water as

Cleaning and care instructions for your gas range’s interior.

See the gas range’s Use & Care Guide for instructions on how to activate the oven’s self-cleaning process. Wipe away spills, pools of oil, and excessive debris before activating the self-cleaning process.

Relubricate the telescopic slides as needed by using high-temperature food-grade lubricants.

            • Cleaning and care instructions for your induction cooktop.

We  recommend wiping away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and therefore difficult to remove. View our How-to-Videos to learn how to clean a glass cooktop.

Warning: Do not use any cleaning agent on the glass while the surface is hot. The resulting fumes may be hazardous to your health and result in death or injury. A blade scraper may be used while the cooktop surface is hot.

Wipe off spatters with a clean, damp sponge, cloth or paper towel. White vinegar may be used if smudges remain.

To clean the glass ceramic area of the cooktop: Apply a small amount of glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream to a soft, clean cloth. Wipe this on the cooktop surface (which has cooled down) and then buff with a clean, dry towel. You may use any appropriate glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream.

To clean hard water spots: Minerals in some water can be transferred onto the cooktop surface and cause stains. Apply undiluted white vinegar  with a soft, clean cloth. Then, recondition with glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.
